Manual And Scheduled Backup
Manual
backup is one-time backup which can be activated manually
by a user at the time when a new backup plan is defined or at any time
user feels necessary. The initial manual backup for a newly defined
backup is a full backup which is required for successful function of
the subsequent manual or scheduled backups.
There are three ways to activate a manual backup:
- When setup a new backup plan with One Time Backup, a full
backup will be performed.
- When setup a new backup plan with a scheduled backup, user will
be prompt to do a full initial backup
- A forced manual backup on an existing backup plan can be
activated by selecting the name of the backup plan and click the
button Backup Now. This action should not affect the
pre-set schedule for backup.
Scheduled backup automatically
start the file backup process at the user pre-defined time. It is an incremental
type of backup which copies only the modified files in the source
folder to the backup destination.
There are two types of Backup Schedule:
- Once a day at a selected time. This is the typical backup scheme
- the backup process automatically starts at the end of the day so
that the process will not interfere with people's work.
- multiple times during a day. This setting allows more frequent
backup so that those who modify files in a high frequency should
not worry about loosing different versions of modifications of a
file.
