Creating a New Backup Definition
Click button New to begin the process of creating a new backup plan

This is the dialog box to define a new backup definition.

- Add - click this button to select local folders as the backup source
- Browse - click this button to select the target folder where files are going to be copied to for backup.
The file structure of the target folder will always match that of the source folder. When needed, the entire folder can be copied back to its original place in the source folder for data recovery.
If the target folder is in a network drive shared from another system, some system configuration is required for the backup to work properly. See details
- For "Backup Schedule", you have the choice of:
- One Time Backup - A full backup is to be performed with this selection, that is, one copy of all files in the defined source are copied to the destination.
- Schedule Backup A - this schedule will backup once a day at a fixed time.
- Schedule Backup B - this schedule will backup more than once a day.
The scheduled backup will run automatically at the set time. Both types of scheduling perform incremental backup only, that is, only the modified files are copied to the destination.See examples
- For "Backup Option", you can choose to include all files with exceptions, or to backup only selected files.
- For "Versions", if you set to keep 5 versions of files with the same name, when the 6th version comes, the 1st version will be deleted. This cycle will be keeping on with all version numbers, so that there are only 5 versions of files with the same name will be kept in the target folder.
With this setting, all files in the source folders will have 5 versions for each file in the backup folder. The maximum versions you can keep for each source file is 999.
Now you have complete the process of defining a new backup definition. Click button OK, you will be prompted to make the initial copy of all files in the target destination. Select "Yes" to complete the setup.
NOTE: The initial sync of the files in source and target folders are required for successful backup.
