The File Merge and File Extract Utilities
Along with this backup tool, two add-on features are included: File
Merge and File Extract.
The two purposes of using File Merge:
- To combine files in different folders into one.
- To transfer back-upped files to a different system.

- To merge files in multiple folders in one folder browse to add the folders
you want to merge, and select or type the target folder. The target folder can
be an existing or non-existing folder. EzOpenBackup will create the
folder if it does not already exist. However, the "drive" that is to be
holding the target folder must be previously existing.
- When used to transfer files from one location to another (most often to an
external, removeable drive device), File Merge can be especially useful
because of its designed efficiency: only the modified files will be copied to
the target folder.
There are three modes for overwrite:
- Overwrite files if the source files have a newer date/time - With this
selection, the existing file will be replcaed by the newer file if the
existing file's date and time is older than that of the new file's.
- Rename file if the same file name has already existed - With this
selection, the new file will be assigned a different name before copied into
the target folder if the name of the new file matches a file name already in
the target folder.
- Always overwrite files - With this selection, all new files will be
copied to the target folder without any kind of checking.
And two structure mode: See
examples for file merge
- Maintain original directory structure - This selection makes it easier
to recover an entire folder of files: you can simply replace the corrupted
folder with the back-upped folder, and all will be restored.
- One level directory structure - If the recovery of files is your main
concern, by putting everything in one folder may make it easier to find the
file when needed.
The File extract utility is to help you to extract the files in the
backup folder with multiple versions to a different location so that more
versions of the developmental files can be documented.

The key for File extract is in the number of version to be copied out
from the back-upped folder.
For example, in your backup setup, five versions of files are to be
kept in the target folder. If you set the File Extrat to "keep the last
one version in the back-upped folder, then versions 1,2,3 and 4 are to be copied
out, and left the last version: version 5 in the back-upped folder. The backup
process will then take version 5 as the first version in the backup folder and
continueing its work to add versions up to five again.
For File extract, you can also choose to keep the original file
structure or copy all files into one folder. See examples
