Manual Cluster Role Switchover
Two situations where manual cluster role switchover
can be useful:
- When there is a need for server upgrade or maintenance of the Primary
station - In this case, click the Switch Role button on the main
status screen to activate the function. When the switch role process is completed, the original Primary
station becomes the Secondary station and is free for working on without stopping the network service.
- When the Primary station fails during a data replication process - In this case,
data replication is not completed and Failover cannot be activated. Then, you must manually reset the
Secondary station to either remain as the Secondary station or switch it to be
the Primary station.
NOTE: Without knowing why the Primary station failed, you want to keep the
Secondary station in it position and try to switch on the Primary station letting the data replication to
finish. Then manually switch the cluster role
to activate the Secondary station for the Active role. When the original Primary
station is in standby status, you can check it up for problems.
