Firewall Logs
There are two logs included in the firewall package for
users needs in error tracing. They are: Monitor
Log that records all the connection activities of your
network, and Policy Log that records all
firewall rule violations caught in the past three months

To utilize the firewall logs, we need to first load
and generate the report, then view the reports with listing
format or the chart format.
Click button ‘Load Report’ ,
and following dialog box will come up for loading firewall
logs. The log files can be loaded by either entering
server’s IP address or specifying a port number.

Click on the button ‘Generate’ to load the report to
the selected log screen for detailed review or printing.

This is an example of Monitor Log listing. From this
report, users can generate chart report for easy viewing.

Items listed in this log include:
- Time: time when firewall rule action takes place
- Source IP: IP of the system that requests network
service
- Destination IP: IP of the system that provides the
network service
- Source Port: the port through which network service is
requested
- Destination Port: the port through which network
service is provided
- Protocol: the protocol used for the network connection
- Operation: the service request function type, ie. ping
or connect

The firewall log information can be displayed in charts for
easy viewing. Click on button ‘Generate Chart’ , and
following dialog box will come up. Users can select the
‘Time unit’ for grouping unit, ‘Time span’ for range
and ‘analyzing item’ for source and click on button
‘Finish’ to get the chart generated. Following picture
is an example with ‘Source IP’ selected as analyzing
entry.
