A Quick Installation Guide of XLink’s ClusterBalancer
Before install, you need to check the system
requirements to make sure your systems meet the
requirements to run ClusterBalancer software properly. One
license key is to be used on both servers in the clustered
system for installation.
Install From CD ROM
Insert the XLink ClusterBalancer CD ROM into the CD ROM
player. The InstallShield will automatically start the
installation process. Follow the details listed below to
finish.
Install From Web Download
Download the program installer from XLink’s web site.
Save it on a local drive. Double click on the installer to
activate the InstallShield to start the installation
process. Follow the details listed below to finish.
Installation Details
From either web download or CD install, you will see the
"welcome" screen coming up. Click on
"continue" to get to the following screen.

Click on button “Next” to move on to next screen.

Read through the License agreement. If you agree all the
terms listed, click on button “yes” to continue.
Otherwise, click on button “No” to quit installation.
If “Yes” was selected for licensing agreement,
following screen will come up for some simple user
information. If a license key is purchased, replace DEMO
with the license key. If using Demo package, a 15-day free
evaluation is set. The software will be disabled after the
15th day of installation.

Click "next" to go to the next screen which
asks for the IP address of the Primary and the Secondary
system of the clustered server systems. Because both systems
must be in the same network, this means the first three
parts of the IP addresses of the Primary and the Secondary
systems must be identical.

As shown in the example, the Primary IP address is
123.123.123.42 and the Secondary IP address is
123.123.123.41. This setting means to the outside world, the
server's IP is always 123.123.123.42 even if when it is down
(failover will keep it up then).
From first figure below, users can change the folder
where files of ClusterBalancer are to be kept. Click on
button “Browse” to select the folder where you want to
keep the files for ClusterBalancer. Otherwise, leave it as
in default and click “Next”.

Above figure simply sets the program name that will
appear in the ‘Programs’ list in Windows ‘Start’
menu. Unless you want to change the program name, click on
button “Next” to move on.
Following screen, will come up to show the components of
ClusterBalancer. A successful installation should show five
items as shown below.

Close up the software components screen when program file
copy is done and you will see following dialog box.

Leave the radio button to "yes" and click on
"finish". The system must be rebooted to complete
the installation procedure. Without rebooting,
ClusterBalancer will not function correctly.
When the system is started again, from Windows
‘Start’ menu, in the ‘Programs’ list, you will find
‘XLink ClusterBalancer’. Click on it will open up the
ClusterBalancer Status screen.

This screen, looks the same on the Primary and Secondary
systems. Now the installation is completed and successful. |
