1. What is Omni NFS series products for
Omni series products are software running on Microsoft Windows
systems to make connection with the UNIX system for file sharing.
These software products utilize NFS protocol for the
cross-platform connection. There is NFS server and NFS client systems in the
network. As the words imply, the connection is from the client to the server
system.
Installing Omni NFS Server software on your Windows system turns
the system into the NFS server to service NFS client's connection requests.
Installing Omni NFS Client software on your Windows system turns you Windows
system into a NFS client system which can make the NFS connection request to a
NFS server system.

2. When to use Omni NFS series products
Omni series products utilizing NFS protocol to establish
connections between Microsoft Windows and UNIX systems for file sharing.
If you want to get files on the UNIX system from a Windows
system, you would run Omni NFS Client software (Omni Lite) on the windows system
and "mount" to the UNIX system.
If you want to get file on the Windows system from a UNIX
system, you would run Omni NFS Server software on the Windows system and
"mount" from the UNIX system to the Windows system.
If you have more than 5 windows systems in the network that need
to get files from some UNIX system, you can try Omni NFS Gateway software for
easy management. Instead of installing NFS client on every Windows system, you
only install Omni NFS Gateway on one Windows 2000 server system and share out
the "mounted" drive to other Windows systems for file sharing.

3. What is the difference of NFS Server and NFS Client
Both NFS Server and NFS Client software are to be run on
Microsoft Windows systems.
Installing Omni NFS Server software on the Windows system will
turn your Windows system into a NFS server system. A successful
"mount" from the UNIX (or a NFS client) system will allow the UNIX
users to get files on the Windows system.
Installing NFS Client software (Omni Lite) on the Windows system
will turn your Windows system into a NFS client system. A successful
"mount" to a UNIX (or a NFS server) system, will allow the Windows
user to get files on the UNIX system.

4. An example on using Omni NFS Server
The typical usage of Omni NFS products is to connect a Windows
system with a UNIX system through NFS protocol for file sharing.
Running Omni NFS Server software on your Windows system turns
the Windows system into a NFS server system. With this setting, UNIX users can
"mount" to the Windows system and access files in the mounted
directory.
To use Omni NFS Server software, you need to first logon to the
Windows system as "administrator" or a power user to install and configure
the software so that the drive/folder on the Windows system are exported
with proper access permissions for the Client to connect and access.
The NFS Server service, once properly installed and configured,
is set to run with the Windows system on automatically (unless you change the
default setting).

5. An example on using Omni NFS Client
The typical usage of Omni NFS products is to connect a Windows
system with a UNIX system through NFS protocol for file sharing.
If you are a Windows user and want to access files on a UNIX
system in the network, you would want to run Omni Lite (NFS client) software on
your Windows system. Omni Lite software turns your Windows system into a
NFS client system.
To use Omni Lite (NFS client) software, you need to first logon
to the Windows system as "administrator" or a power user to install
and configure the software so
that the NFS server (UNIX) system could recognize the NFS client (Windows)
system for its connection requests and giving it access permission.
